A tour of Billy Lights Point - SA Water’s recently proposed site for a desal plant - was held recently by Ambassadors for the Hands Off Boston Bay coalition and local political figures, Peter Treloar the Member for Sterling, and Mayor Sam Telfer who has been nominated as the Liberal candidate ahead of the state elections.
The coalition members explained how the unique geography of the bay - such as natural reefs, tidal flows, and the shallow water - make Boston Bay the home of a massive variety of juvenile marine life, and therefore the wrong home for a desal plant with massive intake pipes and saline-dense outpipes.
